The sheltered housing concept

Dror serves ex-psychiatric patients aged 20 - 50+. Dror
operates 19 sheltered housing units, housing 73 residents
in Herzliya, Hod haSharon, Kfar Saba, and Raanana; and
supervises 22 rehabilitees who live on their own.
Dror’s
objective is to improve the quality of life of residents and
supervisees while preparing them for independent living.

Our rehabilitation program includes guidance in everyday
functioning, employment, and social programming.
Dror
offers three housingmodels that differ from one another in
terms of the level of supervision: supervised, sheltered,
and satellite. Our staff is comprised of social workers
who serve as caregivers and case managers; and
rehabilitation guides who assist the residents in
acquiring life skills.

Housing rented by Dror

Most of our homes house four residents, each of whom
has his or her own bedroom; the living room and kitchen
are shared. Each unit is furnished and equipped by Dror;
we try as far as possible to achieve a homelike, family
atmosphere. Residents may bring personal effects as
they choose; we encourage them to create a personal,
comfortable living space.

Life in Dror housing

Dror residents run their households independently, preparing meals on their own. Each resident has his
or her allotted space in the common refrigerator and the kitchen cupboards or pantry.
Those who need it
receive guidance on shopping, meal preparation, housecleaning, budgeting, and other householding
responsibilities.
Residents may host guests, and even have occasional overnight guests. They may stay
over on weekends and holidays as they choose. We encourage them to lead normative lives in every
respect as far as they are able.
